Guys,
I already tested to install Exchange Server 2007 Service Pack 1 in Windows Server 2008 RC1 Enterprise Edition.
First, i will show some about the installation cause it's little different if we compare to install Exchange 2007 SP1 in Windows Server 2003.
Okay, before we go to installation process, we talk about pre-requisites. As we know, Exchange need IIS 6.0 or higher, MMC 3.0, .Net Framework 2.0 and Windows PowerShell 1.0 as basic pre requisites. In Windows Server 2003, we need to install all basic pre-requisites before go to Exchange Installation. But, in Windows Server 2008 we only need to install IIS 7.0 and PowerShell 1.0, why? because MMC 3.0 and .Net Framework 2.0 are include in Windows Server 2008. Especially for PowerShell, you can install from "Add Features" from Server Manager (you don't need to download the installer like you deploy it in Windows Server 2003).

Next, here's the simple scenario. I build one Domain Controller named Indonesia.co.id and also add DNS Server Role. After that, I deploy all pre-requisites and there's one thing we must know, In Windows Server 2003, we only deploy IIS Components with ASP.NET and WWW Services, But be careful in Windows Server 2008 especially for CAS Roles, we must Add IIS Roles with ASP.NET, Dynamic Content Compression, Basic Authentication, Windows Authentication, Digest Authentication. For Windows PowerShell, you can add from "Add Features" in Server Manager. After all pre-requisites installed, we ready to deploy Exchange 2007 SP1 in Windows Server 2008.

If you not have problem when install prerequisites, you can deploy Exchange 2007 succesfully.

After finish the installation, we can configure and setting the Exchange 2007 SP1 regarding to your design or your requirement.
Next, in Part 2, i will test to configure in server side and client side.
Best Regards,
Raymond Engelbert
